Styrian Team Championships
at GC Almenland Passail

Last weekend, the Styrian Team Championships took place at the Almenland Passail Golf Club. Our team put in a great performance, but in the end had to admit defeat by a wafer-thin margin – missing out on the longed-for promotion to Division 1 by just one point.

  1. Matchday – Successful start against St. Lorenzen

Our team kicked off against the strong team from St. Lorenzen. Our players showed nerves of steel in exciting duels and won 3:2 in the end. The points were scored by Johannes Burisch, Moritz Veigl and Julian Marchel, who each laid the foundation for the important opening victory with confident performances.

  1. Matchday – Decisive duel against the Murtalers

The decisive match for promotion to Division 1 took place on Saturday. After 9 holes, everything looked like a clear victory – our team was already leading 4:1. But the strong Murtalers turned the game around in a real thriller and narrowly won the match 3:2.

The well-coordinated doubles team of Matthias Jansenberger / Arthur Köhler and Moritz Veigl scored for our colors. Despite a strong fighting performance, they suffered their first defeat.

  1. Matchday – Strong finish against Klöch

On the final day, the team was determined to put down another marker – and they did so impressively. Our boys celebrated a clear 5:0 victory against the team from Klöch. Paul Stuppäck, Moritz Veigl, Johannes Burisch, Julian Marchel and the doubles team of Arthur Köhler / Matthias Jansenberger were the main scorers.

Conclusion – narrowly missing promotion

In the end, despite two commanding victories, it was not quite enough for promotion to Division 1, with just a single game point missing to achieve the big goal. Nevertheless, the team’s strong performance showed that it is one of the best teams in Styria.

The players are unanimous: next year we will be back in full attack!
