2026 Styrian Team Championships – Strong showing by GC Schloss Pichlarn in Murstätten

At the 2026 Styrian Team Championships at GC Murstätten, our team put in a strong performance and narrowly missed promotion.
- Match Day – Season Opener Against GC Schloss Frauenthal
To kick things off, the team faced GC Schloss Frauenthal. With wins by Julian Marchel (6 & 4) and Arthur Köhler (1 up), as well as a tie by Moritz Veigl (AS), the team secured a 2.5–2.5 draw.
- Match Day – Bye
On the second day of competition, GC Schloss Pichlarn had a bye and was able to watch the competition and conserve energy for the decisive match.
- Match Day – Thrilling Showdown Against GC Thalersee
In their final group match against GC Thalersee, the team once again showed great fighting spirit. Julian Marchel remained undefeated in his second match as well. Arthur Köhler earned a strong draw against an opponent with a negative handicap (A.S.). The highlight came from Matthias Jansenberger, who won his match with a sensational putt on the 18th green, securing the 2.5–2.5 tie.
At the end of the group stage, all three teams had two points each. However, due to the tiebreaker based on match points in head-to-head matches, GCC Schloss Pichlarn had to settle for third place. As a result, they narrowly missed promotion—in the end, they were just a few match points short of a minor upset.
Despite the unfortunate outcome, the team can be proud of its performance. With great dedication, team spirit, and strong individual performances, GCC Schloss Pichlarn proved to be a worthy opponent and made an excellent impression.
